The holiday’s are here and that means one of the biggest baking seasons is underway. Nothing beats baking memories with friends and family, and around here we have some traditional bakes to uphold- I’m talking cakies! But this year I’ve decided to crank it up a notch and make these holiday classics in GIANT form!

Starting with 7lbs of my Ultimate Chocolate cake and TWO batches of my good friend Derek Friday’s drool worthy chocolate chip cookies, I’m taking these sweet treats to a whole new level with the help of my yummy chocolate ganache, sweet Italian Meringue Buttercream, and FOUR kinds of sprinkles!

Baking The Cakies

7lbs Yo’s Ultimate Chocolate Cake

2 x Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Kisses

Icing The Cakies

Yo’s Simple Syrup

Yo’s Famous Italian Meringue Buttercream

Yo’s Dark Chocolate Ganache

Decorating The Cakies

Sprinkles

4 x 9" Round Cake Pans
Simple Syrup Bottle	Add to Cart -
Small Offset & Straight Spatula	Add to Cart -

Bake Your Cakes

Divide 3.5lbs of batter into each of your 8” round cake pans and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 30 minutes. Let your cakes cool completely in their pans

Bake Your Cookies

Chill each batch of your cookie dough before dividing in half. Press 1.5lbs of dough into parchment lined 9” round cake pans. Press chocolate kisses cut in half into the surface of your dough, and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cookies cool completely in their pans.

Level Down & Layer Up

Remove your cakes from their pans, and level with a ruler and serrated knife. Layer both of your cakes in the same fashion.

Keep It Simple

Shower your cake layers with simple syrup, and allow a few moments to absorb before continuing.

Fill Up

Fill your cakes with a layer of chocolate ganache, so you have 2, 2 layer cakes.

Stuck On You

Flip your cookies over so they are flat side up. Spread a layer of ganache on each, leaving a 1” border. Place your cake on one cookie before sandwiching together with the other. Place in the fridge to chill.

The Icing On Top

Use a piping bag (no tip required) to pipe a layer of Italian Meringue Buttercream, filling in the 1” border between your cake and cookies edge. Smooth out using an offset spatula.

Extra Chocolatey

Use melted chocolate to attach more chocolate kisses to the tops of your cookies, making them look extra chocolate chip filled!

Everything's Better With Sprinkles

Mark the halfway point on each of your cakies, and use this as a guide to decorate each side with a different sprinkle blend of your choosing! Press handfuls of sprinkles into your buttercream, using a pan to catch the extras that fall.
