5lbs of Yo's Ultimate Vanilla Cake
1 batch of Yo's Buttercream
Gel Food Colouring
Assortment of Candy/Treats that fit your colour scheme (i.e. candy sticks, rock candy, gumballs, coconut, sprinkles, jelly beans, etc)

10-inch Square Cake Pan, prepared with parchment
Wilton Cake Comb
Piping Bag and Tip
Palette Knife

Stand Mixer

Prepare Cakes

Prepare your vanilla cake batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1hr and 20 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out completely clean. Let cool completely in pan.

Prepare Buttercream

Prepare your buttercream. Separate your buttercream based on the amount of colours being used. Since my cakes were for the Fourth of July, I separated my buttercream into 3 portions (Red, White, and Blue).

Cut Cakes

Cut your 10 square cake into six 3 x 4 rectangles, cutting each cake into two layers.

Fill and Layer Cakes

Fill your cakes with a layer of buttercream, and an assortment of candy. Place the second layer on top, and crumb coat.

Cover Cakes in Coloured Buttercream

Cover your cakes in their coloured buttercream. Use a Wilton Cake Comb to create impressions in the buttercream, or simply pipe buttercream along the cakes exterior.

Decorate!

Decorate your cakes with your candy/treat assortment!
