Out of this world desserts! 🪐

Here at How To Cake It, we looove a good baking theme. Circus and Funfair? Count us in! Funky 80s Disco? We are so down! 1920s New York City Murder Mystery? … we can give it a go! At the time of this writing, our heads are in the stars and we are focused on all things outer space-themed! A theme, we quickly realized, that is truly limitless.

With the cosmos on our brains, we started brainstorming all the fun space-themed desserts we could write about and then revisited our archives to pull inspiration… and Houston? We had a problem. It didn’t take long to compile a HUGE list of baking inspo and suddenly our quick and simple blog post idea was spiraling out of control… way off course with our transmitter beacons broken and our oxygen supply running low. It was time to regroup and chart a new course. We decided to simplify our mission and focused on 5 desserts that shared that galaxy vibe, some more literal than others, but most importantly, sparked our creativity. Read on to see our short list of desserts that we think would be perfect for any galaxy party.

  • Before we jump in, be sure to check out this week’s Youtube video where Yolanda walks through the creation of not one, not two, but THREE Star Wars novelty cakes. The Force — and talent — is strong with Yo, and these cakes are truly out-of-this-world!

  • These truffle balls by our Bake You Happy artist Susanne were an instant addition to the list. Those little chiffon cakes would be the perfect addition to any dessert table. And any little planet with swirling clouds of rainbow colors is one that we want to visit. 🪐

  • Cakesicles by Bake You Happy artist Johanny are always incredible, but these in particular have always been some of our favorites. Colored chocolate shell, edible glitter spray, and chewy brownie centers means these galaxy cakesicles look just as good as they taste. 😍

  • Admittedly, these mini cakes by Bake You Happy artist Liz were designed as monsters, but you cannot tell us they aren’t perfectly adorable aliens, too. Those googly eyes and antennae? Is it possible to be abducted by cuteness?! We love the creative use of piping tips to achieve all the different alien textures.

  • These donuts and mirror glaze cake by Bake You Happy artists Jyoti and Chelsey weren’t designed with outer space in mind, but aren’t they seriously on-theme with their swirling galaxies of colors? From now on, a gorgeous glaze will be one of the first things we think of when planning a galaxy dessert.

  • Finally, no list of galaxy desserts would be complete without these sugar cookies by Bake You Happy artists Megan and Jared. With royal icing on your side, no cookie design is off-limits, proven by these other-worldly cookies.

Phew. That was quite the journey. We don’t know about you, but now we’re craving something sweet…  💕
