Sorry Santa, these cookies are just for me! A Christmas classic! Cut these sweetly spiced cookies into your favourite holiday shapes, and gather everyone in the kitchen for a decorating party.

Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt until well blended.
In your mixer, beat butter, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla on medium speed until well-incorporated. Add molasses and egg, and mix until incorporated.
Begin to add your dry ingredients, little by little, waiting until one portion is fully incorporated before adding more to the mixer. Repeat until fully blended.
Divide your dough into two equal portions. Place dough onto non stick baking mat or well-floured surface. Place parchment paper on top, and roll out your dough to thick.
Chill the rolled dough in the fridge for 20-30 minutes. This will help get a crisp edge when using cookie cutters.
Using your favourite cookie cutters, press into the dough and move your shapes to prepared baking tray. If your dough shapes become soft, chill them once again.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool completely before attempting decoration.
