Rice Krispie Mixture
Place marshmallows and rice krispies in separate bowls. If you’re using a StayBowlizer, secure your rice krispie bowl with it - this is where your heavy mixing will take place! Take the marshmallows and put them in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time. Once they puff up, they are ready.
Stir together hot, puffed marshmallows with a wooden spoon, and then stir into the cereal with a rubber spatula. Keep mixing until full combined. This mixture is tough so I usually finish mixing with my hands- after I have greased them in vegetable shortening.
Begin to compress mixture into your desired shape. This might be a cake pan (like the donut in my Giant Cupcake Cake), or shaped by hand like my Olaf Cake. The key is to condense the mixture, and get it as tightly packed as possible. You can even use the bottom of a smaller cake pan, or blunt end of a rolling pin to help you out!
Allow to set completely at room temperature before attempting any decoration. You’ll know it’s set when it is no longer pliable, and retains no heat.
