There is something about a grilled cheese sandwich that always hits the spot for me. Good bread, sharp cheddar cheese, fried in butter until brown and crisp. I'm hungry just thinking about it. Naturally, I have to cake this on How To Cake It. I started to wonder what a sweet version of this classic sandwich would taste like. I now have the answer. Its divine. But dont take my word for it, make this for yourself! Make this for your friends. This sweet sandwich will make you more friends.
Prepare your modeling chocolate cheese. This should be done one day in advance to allow time to set.
Prepare the pound cake batter. Pour into a 9x5 loaf pan, and bake pound at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Let cool in pan, and then chill in fridge for 30 minutes.
Knead your modelling chocolate back to a pliable consistency, and roll out sheets that are 1/8 thick on your non stick board. Cut into 4 squares, and repeat the process. Stack your cheese slices between parchment paper, so they do not stick together. Let chill.
With a sharp serrated knife, slice your pound cake into inch slices, and set aside.
Assemble your sandwiches.
Butter both sides, get your pan nice and hot, and fry it until golden brown. Flip your grilled cheese over, and brown the other side.
Place a handful of washed strawberries and raspberries in a food processor or blender.
Add icing sugar to taste. Strain the berries through a sieve to remove the seeds.
