How did you get into baking?
I’ve always baked with my mom as a child, but in 2015 I signed up for a cake decorating class with my best friend. A year later, I started my master’s degree in neuroscience and I started to put those cake class skills to use every weekend as a way to unwind from all the school stress. Shortly after, I started getting requests for cake orders and that’s when I started my Instagram page! From there, I’ve been constantly learning and teaching myself how to make more than just cakes and experimenting with a wide range of cake styles.
How would you describe your style?
My style is definitely colourful and bold! I always reach for vibrant colours and bold contrasts when I’m decorating. It’s important to me that a dessert tastes as good as it looks, so I am also constantly experimenting with various flavour combinations to go along with my bright styles.
Tell us one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
One thing people are often surprised to learn is that I have no formal background in culinary or pastry arts. A lot of times, people think that baking is my full time career. I have 2 neuroscience degrees and I am working on my third one right now in radiation therapy!
