Gift giving can get really complicated, but gifting someone with delicious treats you’ve made yourself is always going to be a slam dunk. It may take a little time and energy, but sharing what you love to do with the people you love is so totally worth it. Regardless of your skill level as a baker, there are tons of treats you can make as a present. Sure, people may be happy with a batch of cookies on a plate, but to really make it special, here are four gorgeous edible gifts I’m pretty obsessed with.
Not only do they sound bougie, a box of Bon Bons is a seriously impressive gift. They may seem daunting, but they’re actually pretty easy to make once you have a couple of core skills down. Plus the filling possibilities are endless! Peppermint chocolate ganache, butterscotch custard, and spiced cookie butter are some of my favorites. Arrange them in an adorable box for that extra touch. And if you tailor the flavors to your recipient’s faves you know they’ll be talking about your heartfelt gift all year. Annnnnd probably requesting a repeat gift next year.
Whether you go with a classic design like striped, or up the game by adding a little more character, these are such a fun giftable treat! Mini cakes allow you to flex your baking and decorating muscles without making a ridiculous amount of cake for one person. Making a personalized mini cake, or a couple of them, is such a lovely gesture, and one that says “you don’t have to share with anyone, this is all for you, bud”. Making everyone in your family their own mini cake is also an amazing gift. Don’t be scared to play with flavors between your cake layers by customizing them with some ganache, jam, cookie butter.
Chocolate mousse is pretty impressive on it’s own, but layered with additional flavors and contained in a colorful white chocolate shell, they really are the perfect gift! Plus turning chocolate mousse into a handheld treat is a lot more practical than just handing someone a scoop of mousse and acting like it’s a present. You can have fun playing with vibrant colors and designs to tailor them to your recipient. If you have a unicorn, rainbow obsessed kiddo in your life, or a major chocolate lover who hates stuffy formality, this is totally the treat for them.
Creme Brulee is decadent, indulgent, sophisticated, and most importantly- extremely delicious. Gifting a set of Creme Brulee is great anytime, but it makes an especially impressive host gift. The best way to gift these is with the topping sugar on the side and instructions to “brulee” them in the oven. You can play with flavor by adding things like coffee to your pastry cream. And as a cute bonus, the ceramic ramekins you make them in can become part of the gift as well!
